EYD-logo with 1800 balloons
Just 348 days before the start of the European Youth Day, the New Apostolic Youth from the Berlin-Brandenburg District got together for Youth Day 2008. As usual, the festivities began on Saturday with a day of recreation, which took place at the famous “Sportstätte Uckley” sports facility on June 7, 2008. The organisers had planned a special activity to take place that afternoon: A video-message to the youth all over Europe.
“See you in Düsseldorf!” was the message from participants. The youth used 1,300 blue balloons and 500 orange balloons to spell out the logo of the European Youth Day and livened up the message with swaying balloons and the wave. In this way, they showed how greatly they are looking forward to May 2009.
Instructions from 22 meters in the air
During this activity, the youth followed the instructions of the “director”, who guided participants to their correct positions from a raised pallet truck 22 meters above the ground. Projected by a megaphone, instructions resounded over the area and the event was captured on video and in pictures.
The resulting video will be shown this year at Youth Days all over Europe and will also be available on the Internet.
